Chairman's Message

Welcome, and thank you for visiting the BFNC website. I am Uzair Saboor, Chairman of BFNC. We’re proud to share our mission, initiatives and ongoing efforts to create meaningful impact in the communities we serve.
Baby Food and Nutrition Council (BFNC) is the only representative body of infant formula and baby food manufacturing industry in Pakistan. We are a not-for-profit organization registered by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) and our membership consists of reputed local and leading international infant formula manufacturers.
In BFNC, we are committed to follow the World Health Organization’s (WHO) International Code of Marketing of Breastmilk Substitutes (the WHO Code), which was adopted in 1981 as a recommendation to governments that becomes legally binding when translated into national rules and regulations.
BFNC therefore fully complies with the provisions of the WHO Code/Local Codes and successive World Health Assembly Resolution 54.2 that was adopted in 2001. We commit to reinforce the superiority of breast milk and exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life and to encourage that our complementary foods are recommended for the infants from the age of 6 months onwards.
The WHO Code recognizes a legitimate market for breastmilk substitutes, stating that one of its aims is to 'ensure the proper use of breastmilk substitutes, when these are necessary, on the basis of adequate information and through appropriate marketing and distribution practices’.
As an industry alliance, we are committed to follow the WHO/Local Codes and aim to ensure that our Infant Formulae marketing practices conform strictly to national legislations, regulations, or other measures taken by governments to give effect to the aim and principles of WHO Code.
BFNC commits to reinforce the superiority of breast milk and exclusive breastfeeding.
